On 24 February 2022, Russia began its long-feared invasion of Ukraine. The ensuing war led to thousands of deaths and the displacement of around 8 million Ukrainians within their own country and 8 million more who fled, causing Europe’s largest refugee crisis since World War II. The war has also reopened unhealed geopolitical wounds, which are coming to a head as Russian and Ukrainian leaders receive conflicting aid from the East and West.
Now, one year later, the questions that people are asking are what does the future hold for Europe and the world as a result of this war, and is peace possible? Our faculty and experts provide some elements to consider when seeking to answer that question.
