Human Rights and Humanitarianism

Improving compliance with international humanitarian law: Approaches to induce behaviour change in armed non-state actors

"The research project was conducted in partnership with Geneva Call and aimed at investigating alternative approaches to induce behavioural change in Armed Actors and De Facto Authorities (AGDAs). This is achieved by moving away from the legalistic lens through which humanitarian engagement is perceived, drawing instead on disciplinary fields such as sociology, behavioural economics and anthropology. The result is a ready-to-use, evidence-based toolbox designed to effectively integrate Geneva Call’s Theory of Change by resorting to the Ecological Model, Nudge Theory and Emotional Appeal.
