Graduating students should be present at the special entrance marked “Students” in front of Auditorium Ivan Pictet at:
- 13:15 PhD and Disciplinary Masters' ceremony
- 16:30 Interdisciplinary Masters' ceremony
Master and PhD students will be seated in the Auditorium according to study programme and then in alphabetical order. A seating chart will be available for students to consult.

Seating for guests
Guests will be able to sit behind the allocated student seating.
Guests are requested to enter the Ivan Pictet Auditorium through the entrance marked “Guests”. The Auditorium will open for guests 45 minutes before the beginning of the first ceremony (13:15) and 30 minutes before the beginning of the second ceremony (16:30).
The graduation is a formal ceremony celebrating your academic achievement. The Graduate Institute, being a truly international institution, has a tradition of celebrating its diversity by encouraging students to wear traditional dress from their home country or formal attire.
For graduating students and family and friends unable to travel to Geneva, the ceremony will be streamed live starting at 14:00 (Geneva time) on Friday, 13 September and the video will be available online afterwards.
For master students unable to attend the ceremony, their diplomas will be mailed to the address on file. Students should expect to receive their diplomas by the end of September. Please contact your master programme’s manager for any further queries.
Travel and Visa
Anyone traveling from abroad to attend the ceremony is responsible for obtaining required visas and for making their own accommodation and travel arrangements.
If you need an official letter from the Institute for visa purposes, please contact the manager of your programme:
