Soon you will officially graduate from the Geneva Graduate Institute. We look forward to celebrating your achievement with you during the Graduation Ceremonies.

On this page you will find information about your graduation programme, registration and all the practical information you need before graduation day.

Time and location

 

The graduation ceremony for PhD and Disciplinary Masters Students who have successfully completed their studies in the 2023-2024 Academic Year will take place on:

The ceremony will be held in the Ivan Pictet Auditorium at the Maison de la Paix.

**Please note that the auditorium will be open 45 minutes before the PhD and Disciplinary Masters ceremony begins and 60 mins before the Master Students in International and Development Studies ceremony . Students should arrive at least 60 minutes before their respective ceremony commences so that they can be properly seated.

Practical information

 

Graduate Seating Arrangements

All graduates should be present at the special entrance marked “Students” in front of the Ivan Pictet Auditorium at least 45 minutes before the beginning of their ceremony for PhD and Disciplinary Masters and 60 minutes  in advance for Master in International and Development Studies.

Graduating students will be seated in the Auditorium according to study programme and then in alphabetical order. Names will be indicated on the designated seats.

Once students have received their diplomas and had their photos taken on stage, they should return to their same seat. Students are requested to remain in the assigned seat for the entire ceremony.

Seating for Guests

Guests will be invited to sit in the designated guest area. 

Guests are required to enter the Ivan Pictet Auditorium through the entrance marked “Guests”. We recommend that guests arrive early in order to choose their seats. 

Dress Code

The graduation ceremony is a formal occasion to celebrate your academic achievement. As a truly international institution, the Geneva Graduate Institute has a tradition of celebrating our diverse community by encouraging students to wear traditional dress from their home country, or formal attire.

Web Live Streaming

For graduating students, families and friends unable to travel to Geneva for the ceremony, the event will be live streamed and the video will be available online afterwards. Graduating students not present at the ceremony will also have their names called and shown on the screen in the auditorium.

Cocktail

A cocktail will take place right after the graduation at the Institute's cafeteria.

Diplomas

For master students unable to attend the ceremony, their diplomas will be mailed to their address on file. Students should expect to receive their diplomas by the end of September. Please contact your programme manager for any further queries:

Individual Photographs

Each graduate will be photographed by a professional photographer on stage. All photos will be available to download for free. The link will be provided on the graduation newsletter which you will receive by email one week after the ceremony.


Group Photographs

Group photographs will be taken in the Ivan Pictet Auditorium once the ceremony closes. They will be available to download for free. The link will be provided on the graduation newsletter which you will receive by email one week after the ceremony.

 

Videos
 

Besides the live streaming of the event, a video of the ceremony will be made available to all graduating students after the ceremony. The link will also be available on the graduation newsletter.
