Beth Krasna, arriving at the end of her third mandate as a member of the Foundation Board, will be stepping down at the end of June 2025. She is pleased to announce that the Board, during its meeting on 7 March, elected Katja Gentinetta to be the next president as of 1 July, 2025.
Katja Gentinetta joined the Foundation Board in November 2024. She is an independent political philosopher and serves on various administrative committees, including the International Committee of the Red Cross. She is a lecturer at the universities of Lucerne and Zurich and a regular columnist.
Katja Gentinetta studied German literature, history, and philosophy in Zurich and at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris and earned her PhD in political philosophy from the University of Zurich with a thesis on tolerance and its limits in multicultural societies. She also holds a certificate in Corporate Governance from INSEAD.
Katja Gentinetta has had a distinguished career with leadership roles in culture, politics, and economics, among them Deputy Director of the Think Tank Avenir Suisse. She has written several books on socio-political and economic themes and most recently co-edited A Swiss Foreign Policy for the 21st Century (NZZ libro 2021). She is a regular media guest on socio-political issues.
The Board also renewed the mandate of Charles Beer as vice-president, and the mandates of Tamar Atinc, Alessandro Curioni and Elettra Ronchi as members of the board for a period of four years.
The Foundation Board extends its warmest thanks to Beth Krasna for her commitment and service to the Graduate Institute over the past 12 years.
