Appointment of Co-Directors for the Hoffmann Centre for Global Sustainability

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Beatrice Weder di Mauro and Professor Dominic Rohner as the Co-Directors of the newly established Hoffmann Centre for Global Sustainability at the Geneva Graduate Institute.

Their combined leadership and expertise will be instrumental in advancing the Centre’s mission to conduct cutting-edge research and foster global collaboration for integrated sustainability—ensuring a future that is nature-positive, socially inclusive, and equitable.

Meet the Co-Directors

Professor Beatrice Weder di Mauro

  • André Hoffmann Chair of Global Economics, Climate, and Nature Finance
  • Faculty Associate at the Centre for Finance and Development
  • Renowned international economist with expertise in sustainable finance, environmental economics, macroeconomic policy, and global governance
  • President of CEPR, fostering excellence in economic research on a global scale
  • Her distinguished career includes roles at the International Monetary Fund, Harvard University, and the German Council of Economic Experts, where she has contributed significantly to bridging academic research with impactful policymaking

Professor Dominic Rohner

  • André Hoffmann Chair in Political Economics and Governance
  • Faculty Associate at the Centre on Conflict, Development, and Peacebuilding (CCDP)
  • Award-winning researcher specializing in political and development economics, with a focus on peacebuilding, governance, and environmental policies
  • Leader of the CEPR Research and Policy Network on Preventing Conflict, and former ERC grant holder for the project “Policies for Peace”
  • Associate Editor of The Economic Journal and member of the Swiss National Research Council
