The Institute hosted the Targeted Sanctions Consortium Project between 2009 and 2016. The project engaged more than 50 scholars and policy practitioners interested in examining the impacts and effectiveness of United Nations targeted sanctions. In addition to producing government briefings, policy reports, and the book Targeted Sanctions: The Impacts and Effectiveness of United Nations Action (Cambridge University Press, 2016), the project created two databases, one quantitative and one qualitative, out of its structured case study research. The quantitative database was completed in 2013 and will be updated in 2025-26, as part of the Multidisciplinary International Network on Sanctions (MINOS) hosted at Ghent University. The qualitative database exists in App form, is available at unsanctionsapp.com, and is annually updated with the support of the Swiss government.
