Strengthening Human Rights through Parliamentary Engagement in the Universal Periodic Review

The aim of the research was to answer the following question: "How can the role of Parliamentarians in the UPR be enhanced to improve the implementation of UPR recommendations at the domestic level?". The report is based on an analysis of the recommendations that need parliamentary action to be implemented made to the 193 UN countries during the third cycle of the Universal Periodic Review, accompanied by the in depth examination of two case studies countries : Côte d’Ivoire and Nepal. This research project presents country-specific recommendations, followed by general recommendations.
