The humanitarian, development and peace nexus

This report delves into the operationalization of the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus approach in tackling food insecurity, particularly in protracted crises. Conducted in partnership with the World Food Programme, the research examines the results and effectiveness of the Nexus approach, assessing how it influences international aid and programming. The study provides case studies, highlights success factors like resilience-building and multi-year financing, and addresses the challenges of siloed interventions and short-term planning. It also emphasizes the importance of collaborative efforts and the need for flexible, multi-year funding to achieve sustainable outcomes in humanitarian contexts.

All views and opinions expressed in the final report reflect those of the research team and do not represent or bind the WFP or the Graduate Institute.
