Scarcity, Mobility, and Conflict in Somalia: Climate Change and the Future of Transhumance in Galmudug and Hirshabelle States

This study focused on the influence of short- and long-term climate change-related environmental impacts in Hirshabelle and Galmudug states on the dynamics of mobility and violent conflict. Through a mixed methods approach utilizing household survey data from IOM and key informant interviews, this research analyzed the validity of various assumptions regarding the relationship between the impacts of climate change and violent conflict. We also provided an overview of the most relevant strategy, program and policy recommendations to address these challenges.
