Human Rights and Humanitarianism

Advancing the Rule of Law & Human Rights in Digital Spaces

This report maps out current legal and political debates on human rights in digital spaces and gives an overview of the existing international legal framework, including hard and soft law, tailored to the specific human rights for consideration. This report notes that the current legal systems are not well suited to sufficiently governing emerging technologies and have proven inadequate in the proper and effective regulation of digital spaces, ensuring the human rights of all are upheld. The report focuses on human rights most relevant to women and girls, marginalized, and vulnerable people.
