Making peace sustainable? From Successful Policies to Concerns for Peace in Maluku, Indonesia

Sustainable peace requires in-depth inclusive peace and reconciliation processes in the communities

Based on research conducted on the island of Ambon in Maluku, Indonesia, this brief shows how top-down peacebuilding policies need to be complemented with gender-inclusive community-driven initiatives to ensure the sustainability of peace.

This research was conducted within the Gender Centre's project on The Gender Dimensions of Social Conflicts, Armed Violence and Peacebuilding.
