Neha Mishra is Assistant Professor in the International Law Department of the Geneva Graduate Institute. Her research lies at the intersection of international economic law and digital governance, with a particular focus on digital trade, global data governance, and the regulation of emerging technologies. Her broader research examines the governance of artificial intelligence and digital markets, cybersecurity, regulatory interoperability, and the implications of digital transformation for developing economies.
She is the author of International Trade Law and Global Data Governance: Aligning Perspectives and Practices (Hart Publishing, 2024) and co-author, with Mira Burri, of A Research Agenda for Digital Trade Law (Edward Elgar, forthcoming 2027). She is also co-editor, with Georgios Dimitropoulos, of Reorienting International Economic Law for the Digital Economy: Toward Digital Development (Hart Publishing, forthcoming 2027). Her scholarship has appeared in leading journals including the International and Comparative Law Quarterly, Journal of International Economic Law, World Trade Review, Journal of World Trade, and NYU Journal of International Law & Politics.
Neha serves on the editorial boards of the Leiden Journal of International Law, Journal of International Economic Law, and Journal of World Investment & Trade. She is Co-Chair of the American Society of International Law’s International Law & Technology Interest Group and a Senior Research Affiliate at the Centre for Digital Law at Singapore Management University.
Before joining the Graduate Institute, she was Lecturer in Law at the Australian National University and Postdoctoral Fellow at the National University of Singapore. Neha holds a PhD in Law from the University of Melbourne. Her doctoral thesis, which examined the application of international trade agreements to cross-border data flows, received the 2019 Harold Luntz Graduate Research Thesis Prize and the 2020 University of Melbourne Chancellor’s Prize for Excellence in the PhD Thesis. She has also held research positions at the World Trade Organization and the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg.
Neha is qualified as a lawyer in the UK and India and, before entering academia, practised law in London and India. She also worked on technology, trade and regulatory policy at Microsoft and eBay in Singapore. She continues to engage with governments, international organisations and other policy institutions on digital trade, data governance and emerging technology regulation.

CURRENT RESEARCH
Neha’s current research examines regulatory interoperability in the digital economy, the relationship between trade and competition law in governing transnational economic power, artificial intelligence governance and international economic law, and the role of international economic law in enabling digital development.
