Xiao is currently a PhD candidate specializing in International Economics at the Geneva Graduate Institute, with expected graduation in 2025. Xiao has worked as a PhD intern for the year 2023 at the Research Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). During the year 2022, Xiao also undertook a research internship within the Economic Research and Statistics Division at the World Trade Organization and contributed to the World Trade Report.
