Savannah Dodd, PhD is a dedicated visual artist and anthropologist whose primary mission is to promote ethical practices in photography. Over the past several years, she has been committed to enhancing ethical, visual, and media literacy through her organisation, the Pho-tography Ethics Centre, which she founded in 2017.
Her work has had a significant impact on the global stage. Through ed-ucation and consulting, she has influenced visual media practices across the media, academic, and international development sectors. Savannah’s innovative approach has earned her several grants and awards recognising her contributions to the field. Notably, she was named as one of the 100 most inspirational female entrepreneurs in the UK by Small Business Britain in 2021.
Dodd has authored several articles in arts and academic journals. Her edited volume titled Ethics and Integrity in Visual Research Methods was published by Emerald in 2020. She is also a skilled public speaker, having delivered a TEDx talk titled “Changing the World with Visual Media Ethics” in 2023.
Her leadership roles have included serving on the board of Source Magazine, the UK committee of the Ethical Journalism Network, and the ethics panel of the Environmental Photographer of the Year Award.
