Nikolay Kamenov studied at the English Grammar School in Sofia, Bulgaria. Upon successfully finishing a BA in History at the Jacobs University in Bremen in 2007, he received a Max Kaase fellowship. In 2009 Kamenov graduated the MA program in Intercultural Humanities. In 2010 he joined the chair for History of the World at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology working on a PhD project on the history of temperance in South East Europe from a global perspective. In August 2015 Kamenov successfully defended his dissertation. Since the summer of 2015 he is working at the Graduate Institute in Geneva on Swiss National Science Foundation funded project under the title Coop Entanglements and Connections: Towards a Global History of the Cooperative Movement, 1890-1970. The project so far has brought Kamenov on extensive research visits to the National Archives and the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Library in New Delhi, India, to the National Archives in Accra, Ghana as well as to various libraries and archives in Europe.
