Since graduating in 2015 with a PhD in International Relations and Political Science, Marcos Tourinho has achieved a series of remarkable professional accomplishments. He co-founded the School of Inter-national Relations at Fundação Getulio Vargas, a prestigious higher education institution in Brazil. As a founding Professor, Tourinho es-tablished a research program and taught graduate-level courses in the field of global governance. He has published a book and numerous articles on international relations theory, global governance and international peace and security issues.
Tourinho was also a consultant to the United Nations, notably to the United Nations University and the Security Council Affairs Division, where he advised on strategies to induce parties of armed conflicts to engage in negotiations. Currently, he is Director of Global Response at Meta, where he is responsible for anticipating and preparing product responses for WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, in situations of escalated tension worldwide, such as during elections, armed conflict and civil unrest.
