Daryna Abbakumova is a SNSF Research Fellow at Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding and a Visiting Professor at the Department of International Law at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. She is currently leading the project “Cyber Operations, International Humanitarian Law, and Issues of Neutrality”, which is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). As a Visiting Professor Daryna teaches the course “Diplomatic and Consular law”.

Daryna was Associate Professor of the Department of International Law at Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University (Kharkiv, Ukraine). She is a member of the European Society of International Law and Ukrainian Association of International Law. She is the author of the monograph “Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe: International Legal Nature and Powers,” written on the basis of her PhD thesis. She is also a coauthor of the book “Theory and practice of application of the Convention on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms” edited by the Ukrainian publishing house, as well as educational and reference manual “Convention on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (in questions and answers)”.

Daryna Abbakumova was Coordinator of the panel discussion “Law and Security in the Context of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration” of the II Kharkiv International Legal Forum in 2018. From 2019 to 2021 she has been working as a lecturer of the Joint Master’s Degree Program "International Law" under the Agreement between Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University and Mykolas Romeris University (Vilnius, Lithuania), within which she taught the following courses: “Law of International Organizations”, “Diplomatic and Consular Law”. In September 2021 and April 2022, Daryna taught a short intensive specialist course at Masaryk University, Faculty of Law (Brno, Czech Republic) as a visiting professor in the framework of the Erasmus+ ICM program. From 2021 to 2022, she was the manager of a project implemented by the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University under a grant from the U.S. Department of State.

Daryna’s research interests include public international law, diplomatic and consular law, diplomacy, international humanitarian law, international criminal law, law of international organizations, law of the Council of Europe, human rights law, execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, European Union law.
