Originally from Argentina, Antonio Hodgers arrived in Switzerland at the age of five. Deeply marked by environmental and solidarity issues, he joined the political sphere at a very young age by taking part in the Young Green Party’s youth.
Pursuing his commitment to environmentalism in his professional life, Hodgers founded a consultancy firm dedicated to issues of mobility after his studies at the Institute in 2004. He was previously involved in the creation of night bus lines in Geneva in favour of the young people. Inspired by his travels to Latin America before his higher studies, Hodgers expresses the necessity to think about ecology globally, but while acting locally. He engages in the rhetoric around ecology in a positive way and prefers to rethink our future world without creating ecological anxiety.
His political career began in 1997 when he was elected to Geneva’s parliament, the Grand Council. He was re-elected several times and became head of the Genevan branch of the Green Party. Hodgers
was then elected to the Federal Parliament, where he served two con-secutive terms. During this time, he held the presidency of the par-liamentary group of the Green Party. In 2013, he returned to Geneva after being elected as a member of the Council of State, where he has served as a Councillor for ten years, acting as president in 2019.
