Andréa Michaela Maechler is the first Swiss Deputy General Manager of the Bank for International Set-tlements (BIS). She was also the first woman to serve on the three-person Governing Board of the Swiss National Bank (SNB). As a board member, she played a leading role in the conduct of monetary policy and financial market operations, the management of FX reserves, and the integration of technological innovation in core functions. She also oversaw the establishment of the first BIS-SNB Innovation Hub. Previously, she held several senior roles at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C. and the European Systemic Risk Board in Frankfurt.
