Yira Lazala has won the 2021 edition of the SNIS Award, presented by the Swiss Network for International Studies (SNIS). The SNIS Award is granted for the best PhD thesis received in a Swiss University on a subject related to International Studies. Her research has focused on the topic of rural women’s translocal action for right to land and territory in Colombia, explores how peasant and indigenous women in Nariño make their conceptions of self-determination, land, and territorial rights become visible on the transnational scale and how such notions turn (or not) into authoritative legal knowledge.
