The Graduate Institute’s Washington Chapter, which includes PhD graduates Luc Everaert, Sherry Stephenson and Paul Mathieu, gathered in the US capital this week to celebrate the seventh year of its participation in the Institute's scholarship fund, with the support of the Friends of the Graduate Institute Foundation.
Around 20 alumni were present at the Hellbender microbrewery established last year by Mr Everaert, who gave them a tour of the production facilities. The alumni sampled the six different brews, with flavours including chocolate and coffee, as they reconnected and shared memories of Geneva.
The event was a great success, with eleven pledges totalling USD 4,000 made by the attendees. Another USD 250 of proceeds from the event will go towards the scholarship fund.
Ms Stephenson and Mr Mathieu recalled their experiences of the 2nd International Alumni Reunion, held on 5 - 8 November 2015 in Geneva, where they were joined by around 500 other Graduate Institute alumni.
They encouraged the rest of the Washington Chapter to make plans for the next International Alumni Reunion, which will be held in 2017 to coincide with the Institute’s 90th anniversary.
