The Graduate Institute’s Global Governance Centre is excited to announce the resumption of the International Geneva Luncheon seminar series. After a pause due to restrictions on in-person meetings in Geneva, the seminar series will continue on 23 November 2021 with a presentation by Sotiria Grek, Professor in Global Education Governance at the University of Edinburgh, on "Sustainable Development Goals, Quantification, and the Production of Expertise."
The International Geneva Luncheon seminar series launched in 2009 with the aim to foster critical and constructive engagement with the making of global governance, its practices and the way global problems have been tackled in order to promote reflected, legitimate, and inclusive forms of governance.
The events convene international scholars conducting cutting-edge research relevant to international organisations, senior policy practitioners from across various United Nations entities, and non-governmental organizations.
Twenty-four well-attended seminars have been organized to date, exploring both conceptual and substantive questions related to global governance, including innovation in world politics, transparency and accountability in global governance, ethical leadership, gender rights and sexual violence, human rights and peacekeeping, amongst many others.
The International Geneva Luncheons will continue to offer a rare and constructive space for policy-practitioners and scholars to take a step back from their daily activities and reflect on the challenges and transformations of our contemporary governance arrangements, as a way to rethink the future.
The seminar series, convened by Annabelle Littoz-Monnet , enjoys the enthusiastic support of Director-General of the United Nations at Geneva Tatiana Valovaya, is co-organized in close collaboration with the Political Affairs and Partnerships Section at UNOG and with the generous support of the Canton and City of Geneva.
