Continued Successful collaboration between the ccdp and the graduate institute's executive education
The CCDP is proud to have again been part of Module 1 of the Conflict and Fragility Management (CFM) specialisation of the Graduate Institute’s Executive Master in Development Policies and Practices (DPP).
The CFM programme, in collaboration with the American University of Central Asia (AUCA), usually commences in July of every year with an intense five-week curriculum in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020-21 iteration of the programme was undertaken online: Module 1 began in December 2020 and was completed in March 2021.
Four courses were offered during the module, drawing on the CCDP’s on-going research and in-house expertise. These four courses can also be taken separately in view of obtaining a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS):
Course 1 - An Introduction to Conflict and Fragility Management from a Development Perspective
Course 2 - Applied Methods for Development Research in Conflict-Affected and Fragile Contexts
Course 3 - Conflict Analysis and Strategic Management in Complex Settings
Course 4 - Critical Perspectives on Contemporary Peace-and-Security Concerns
While it was unfortunate that face-to-face exchanges in Bishkek were not possible this year, a silver lining to the current challenges was the fact that the online classes constituted an opportunity to showcase the depth and breadth of knowledge in the CCDP team. A total of 11 faculty, staff and affiliates contributed to Module 1 – in alphabetical order: Janine Bressmer, Alexandre Dormeier-Freire, Andreas Hirblinger, Oliver Jütersonke, Kazushinge Kobayashi, Keith Krause, Marie Lobjoy, Augusta Nannerini, Claudia Seymour, Fred Tanner, and Achim Wennman.
All of us look forward to continuing the conversation with DPP-CFM participants over the coming weeks and months, and to hopefully welcoming everyone at the Maison de la paix later in the summer!
