Santiago de Chile: new Alumni Chapter

The Graduate Institute community continues to grow, now with 32 representatives worldwide, as the sixth Latin American Alumni Chapter is announced.

On behalf of C. Rodrigo Sáez-Muñoz (PhD in International History and Politics, 2014) we are delighted to announce the birth of the new Santiago de Chile Chapter - as well as the birth of his daughter, Sofía Viktoria Sáez-Lääne.

The other founding members of the new Santiago de Chile Chapter are Hellen Cisternas Bórquez (International Executive Master in Development Studies, 2012), Oscar E. Corvalan-Vasquez (Master in Development Studies, 1975), Roberto Durán Sepúlveda (PhD in Political Science, 1980) and Christian Paccot N. (CEI, 2014). Several other alumni have expressed their interest in becoming active members upon their return to Chile, from current PhD students completing their theses to senior Chilean diplomats on assignment.

The Santiago Chapter will initially organise two meetings per year in order to establish links among the members, providing a forum to discuss or present research or ideas relating to international relations, at national and international level. The Chapter seeks to strengthen ties between itself and the Institute, to promote the Institute as an important destination for Chilean graduate students and to offer support and guidance for alumni in Chile. It aims to strengthen relations between Chilean academic institutions and the Institute in order to facilitate the exchange of scholars.

The Santiago de Chile Chapter looks forward to joining the wider Graduate Institute community.
