What is it?
The goal of this challenge is to stimulate new ideas on the Future of Work, while profiling the intellectual rigor and eloquence of participating students.
As a participant in the challenge, you will be asked to identify a key challenge for the world of work, related to one of our three themes, and propose a solution that can lead to a new era for work.
Your content should be delivered via a short video pitching your idea (max 3 minutes).
The themes for this challenge are the following:
Technology Reshaping the Future of Work
In the Covid-19 era, new technologies have allowed us to work remotely and provide workers with more autonomy. However, these new forms of work are also a synonym of more working hours, blurred lines between work and personal life and higher levels of stress. On the other hand, robots and AI are increasingly replacing workers and not only in the industrial sector. How is technology impacting and going to impact the future of work?
Climate Crisis and System Disruption
A just transition to an environmentally sustainable economy is an essential component of our response to climate change. But beyond this colossal task, are there further systemic disruptions of the climate crisis that will impact the future of work? What will be the consequences of large-scale migration and restructuring of infrastructure as part of climate adaptation responses? How will we respond to demands of young people and workers for more environmentally and socially conscious employers? Can we imagine a more ecological, fair, and democratic future of work?
The Great Resignation: Rethinking Work Culture
The Covid-19 pandemic has spurred a large-scale resignation of workers across countries and industries. Early analysis points towards an aspirational workforce seeking to maintain the benefits of flexible work, work-life balance, and more rewarding opportunities. But are these opportunities available to all segments of the workforce? Are companies and jobs really changing enough to meet the rising expectations of a new generation of workers? How radically do we need to realign our systems, cultures, and operating models to ensure an inclusive, meaningful, and human future of work?
Who can participate?
