New director general for the Bureau of International Recycling

Alexandre Delacoux joined the world recycling body's head office in Brussels in October 2012 as general manager.

Alexandre Delacoux is an experienced senior executive who has long worked with trade associations. A French national, he has been based in Brussels for 15 years. He did his undergraduate studies in international relations and a master in international economics at the Graduate Institute, finishing in 1990.

Alexandre Delacoux 's career highlights include working for nearly a decade at Du Pont de Nemours, a major business-to-business company in the chemicals arena. He also co-wrote the management book “Communicating Sustainable Development - Issues and Impact for Enterprises”.

Alexandre Delacoux joined BIR last year as its general manager. He is to become the new director general as of 1 September, which will see him be responsible for the day to day operations of the worldwide trade association for the recycling industry. Besides overseeing ten staff members and a same number of BIR ambassadors, he is tasked with ensuring the smooth co-ordination of BIR commodity division and committee programmes to achieve a common strategy worldwide.

The appointment was announced at the BIR’s general assembly in Shanghai on May 28.
