Liveability-Indexes: What if we scrape the façade?

In spite of their catchy names and enthralling rankings, what do liveability indexes really tell us about cities?

Robert Emmanuel's latest post on the Global reveals the underlying assumptions of two popular liveability indexes:  the Global Liveability Ranking and the Quality of Living Survey. He argues that these indexes are not as objective as they claim to be, as they focus on aspects of urban life that are exclusive to an upper-segment of society.
