Patrick Youssef gained his Executive Master in International Law in Armed Conflict at the Geneva Academy in 2012. Growing up in Lebanon, he joined the Lebanese Red Cross as a volunteer during the 2006 war. He has just returned from Iraq, where he was Head of the ICRC Delegation.
“Over the last two years, I have seen a drastic change in people’s lives due to the effects of the recent cycles of violence” said Patrick Youssef. “Those who stayed in Iraq are individual heroes, in my view. People who have endured and kept hope for their children… from them, we can learn a lot about resilience and about coping with fear and suffering”.
He is currently Deputy Regional Director for the ICRC in Africa.
