As part of the CFD - IFI's Reports Series, Ayhan Kose (World Bank), Franziska Ohnsorge (World Bank), Silja Baller (World Economic Forum) and Ugo Panizza (Centre for Finance and Development and Centre for Economic Policy Research) discuss the main findings of the January 2022 edition of the World Bank's Global Economic Prospects report, assessing prospects and risks for the global economy reflecting, inter alia, COVID-19 flare-ups, diminished fiscal support, and lingering supply bottlenecks.
Notably, global growth is expected to decelerate sharply in the upcoming years and projections of global inflation are higher than what was previously expected due to outbreaks of new COVID variants, higher food and energy prices, and supply disruptions.
