A team of students from the Graduate Institute has won second place at the First Regional Round of the 2019 John H. Jackson (formerly ELSA) Moot Court Competition on WTO Law, thereby qualifying for the Final Oral Round of the competition.
The team consists of Alex Wong, Ana Sofia Coelho Correia, Ting Han and Boris Ohanyan, and is coached by Antigoni Matthaiou and Panagiotis Kyriakou. From 11 to 14 February in Vienna, Austria, the team competed against universities from all over Europe for a limited number of places in the Global Oral Round in Geneva. After an excellent performance in the final of the Vienna Round against a team from the Martin Luther University (Halle), the team placed second, ahead of Leiden, City University London, University of Bern (World Trade Institute) and several other prestigious law schools. Moreover, Ana Sofia Coelho Correia won the Best Oralist award for her performance in the preliminary rounds, whereas Ms Ting Han won the Best Oralist award for her performance in the semifinals.
The team was supported academically by Prof. Joost Pauwelyn and administratively by the Centre for Trade and Economic Integration.
