Professors Nico Krisch and Annabelle Littoz-Monnet have been named co-directors of the Graduate Institute’s Global Governance Centre, as the Centre joins the Institute’s eight other research centres.

"Global governance is in crisis yet continuously expanding”, says Nico Krisch, Professor of International Law. “The Global Governance Centre is a great platform for understanding how global governance develops, what impact it has, and what challenges it faces and from whom - after all, people are affected by it in very different ways, depending on where they are from and where they stand. I am excited to be able to work with our outstanding staff and faculty to take this inquiry forward in the coming years."

"I’m looking forward to stimulating innovative, collaborative and interdisciplinary research on global governance”, says Annabelle Littoz-Monnet, Associate Professor of International Relations/Political Science. “The Global Governance Centre allows scholars working on similar issues in different disciplines to discuss and work together. It is by exploring literatures beyond one's own field that inventive and ground-breaking work can be produced."

Nico Krisch and Annabelle Littoz-Monnet take over from Thomas Biersteker, Gasteyger Professor of International Security and Director of Policy Research at the Graduate Institute, who, together with Institute alumnae Dr Cecilia Cannon, successfully led the Programme for the Study of International Governance from its launch. Professor Biersteker, who has recently taken a new role as the Graduate Institute's Director for Policy Research, will continue to be closely involved with the Centre, notably as principal investigator for research projects on International Relations Studies and Education and on International Organisation Reform Effectiveness.

The Global Governance Centre undertakes research into the actors, institutions and processes of global governance, disseminating its research findings through publications, teaching, a vibrant visiting programme and a seminar series for scholars and practitioners. Learn more on their website.
