Gender equality as a resource for peace

On the role of gender representations and inequalities in violence escalation and how gender matters in creating inclusive peacebuiding and conflict management.

Within the project The gender dimensions of social conflicts, armed violence and peacebuilding, local research teams in Nigeria and Indonesia explore the gender components of conflict cycles at the micro level.

The project is supported by the r4d programme who created a synthesis module to document how the funded projects relate to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Thanks to a participatory filmmaking process, researchers, local protagonists in Nigeria and science filmmakers provide insights on the role of gender representations and inequalities in violence escalation and how gender matters in creating inclusive peacebuiding and conflict management.

The resulting full-length documentary on "Inequality and Conflict" will be presented during the Geneva Peace Week in November 2019.
