A Namibian national with two decades of experience as a diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anne Namakau Mutelo was recently named by President Hifikepunye Lucas Pohamba to represent her country to Ethiopia, the African Union and the UN Economic Commission for Africa.
Ms Mutelo obtained a certificate in multilateral diplomacy from the Graduate Institute in 2003. She holds a post-graduate diploma in contemporary diplomacy from the University of Malta and DiploFoundation.
Previously, Anne Namakau Mutelo was First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Namibia to the United Nations in New York from 2010-2012. Prior to that, she was Deputy-Director responsible for Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa in the Department of Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She began her career in 1991 at the Namibia High Commission in London and later went on to hold posts in Botswana and Ethiopia before going to the UN headquarters in New York.
