CIES welcomes three new members

As of May 2016, CIES is happy to welcome 3 new members.

Francois Cohen has started this month as a postdoctoral researcher in economics on the Sinergia project. François holds a PhD in economics and finance from Mines ParisTech Graduate School and a master's degree in economics and public policy from the Political Studies Institute of Paris, Sciences Po. Before joining CIES, Francois worked as postdoctoral researcher at the Grantham Research Institute of the London School of Economics and as a research assistant and consultant for Bio Intelligence Service in Paris, an environmental consultancy member of the Deloitte Group. He has two main research topics: energy efficiency as a means to mitigate climate change, and the impacts of climate change.

Marion Planque started this month to conduct her postgraduate internship as a research assistant for the Prof Marc Hufty. Marion holds a Master of International Business Law Degree and is currently involved in a Master of development studies Degree at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Her research focuses on environmental governance in Latina America and the concept of free prior informed consent of indigenous peoples in Latina America. She will join CIES until the end of September 2016.

Morgan Scoville-Simonds will start as of May 16 as a CIES Visiting Fellow for one year to work with Prof Marc Hufty. Morgan holds a PhD in Development Studies from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. Working from a political ecology perspective, his research addresses the political and social-justice aspects of environmental problems and solutions. He has conducted extensive fieldwork in Andean and ceja de selva areas of Peru on adaptation/development interventions and local understandings of changing climatic conditions.
