CIES at International Economic Association World Congress

Amman, Jordan 6th – 10th July 2014

CIES’ Research Assistants Chiara Ravetti and Martina Bozzola presented their research at the 17th International Economic Association World Congress, which took place this month in Amman, Jordan.
Chiara presented “A DRAGON EATING ITS OWN TAIL: INFORMATION ABOUT AIR POLLUTION, UNCERTAINTY AND HOUSEHOLD ADAPTATION IN BEIJING”, a study of the role of information about air pollution in determining the adaptation choices of households in Beijing, China. Autocratic countries like the People's Republic exercise strict control over media and on the flow of information about pollution, therefore affecting the defensive behavior of the population.  Martina presented “ADAPTATION TO CLIMATE CHANGE: FARMERS?' RISK PREFERENCES AND THE ROLE OF IRRIGATION” where she investigate how individual producers optimize input usage, in particular irrigation water, taking into account their risk preferences.
