Sanjna Yechareddy's thesis, embarked on an ethnographic journey "both in and of" the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) archives. Through a combination of archival research, interviews, and keen observations, Sanjna explored the intricate processes of creation and evolution within these archives, shedding light on their decentralized and fragmented nature.
Her work adeptly interweaves archival materials with the perspectives of the archivists themselves, along with insightful ethnographic reflections on her personal experiences navigating the complexities of locating and accessing documents and photographs. Sanjna creatively circumvented bureaucratic limitations on available documentation, revealing the intertwined histories and politics of record-keeping at the ICRC. Her findings showcase the dynamic and evolving nature of archival spaces and how they are deeply embedded within the organization's operations.
The Center congratulates Sanjna on this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to her continued contributions to the field of digital humanities and multilateralism.
