Now in its ninth year, the Graduate Institute’s flagship Capstone applied research initiative is preparing to launch. Capstone research collaborations bring together small groups of students with external partners from across diverse sectors of International Geneva to conduct innovative research that addresses real-world challenges.

As part of the project, students undertaking a Master in International Affairs and Development Studies engage in a research process over two academic semesters in response to questions posed by partners from the United Nations (UN), international organisations (IOs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and international non-governmental organisations (INGOs), as well as Geneva missions to the UN and private sector businesses to apply new thinking from the scholarly world to policy and practice on global issues. Thematic areas cover mobilities, spaces and cities; power, conflict and development; environment, resources and sustainability; trade and finance and global security and conflict.

Engaging promising students to reflect on your global challenges can be an insightful and highly rewarding experience for partners while enhancing the educational expertise of future change agents.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 11 February 2019.

Please submit your Capstone research proposal, based on the thematic track to which your project fits, to:
