Buenos Aires Chapter holds successful kickoff event

The Graduate Institute Alumni gathered on 21 June 2017 at the residence of the Swiss Ambassador to Argentina, Mr. Hans Peter Mock, for the first official event of the Alumni Chapter in Buenos Aires

Recognized Argentinian constitutionalist Daniel Sabsay was the featured presenter. The lunch was a great opportunity to discuss the most recent and pressing political and human rights issues in the country. Among others, the alumni reflected on the last Supreme Court rulings ‘Fotevecchia’, where the Court stated that Inter-American Human Rights Court cannot annul judgments of the Supreme Court of Argentina, and ‘Muina’, in which the Supreme Court granted the so-called ‘2x1’benefit (early release) to prisoners convicted of crimes against humanity, radically changing Argentinian jurisprudential traditions. Finally, the Alumni Chapter in Buenos Aires debated the 100-years bond sale that Argentina recently made and how it could affect the economic and financial future of the country.

The Buenos Aires Alumni Chapter aims to continue organizing events and conferences to discuss topics of both national and international interest with the presence of recognized professionals in diverse fields of study.
