Bern Alumni Chapter 17th Annual Reception

During this event – organised for our alumnae and alumni, the diplomatic community and friends of the Geneva Graduate Institute – a discussion was held on the “Geneva Policy Outlook*: Key Issues to Watch in 2023”.

An interactive exchange ensued among nearly 80 participants, on three topics in three “circle conversations”, an innovative concept that was introduced during this reception: Sustainable Finance, the Future of Peace Mediation and Digital Challenges & Science Diplomacy. The topics included kick-off presentations and summary words by Professor Nathan Sussman, Senior Researcher Sara Hellmüller, Director for Strategic Partnerships Achim Wennmann and Director of the Geneva Graduate Institute Marie-Laure Salles. The Institute’s Director also introduced some key institutional development for 2022.

Most of the participants were positively surprised by the circle conversations, a format that will be continually improved for future receptions. The discussions were followed by a networking cocktail.

The Bern Chapter is co-headed by Dea Rolih (’06) and Thierry Beyeler (’09). We thank them for their continued engagement and would like to express our gratitude to everyone who was able to come.

*The Geneva Policy Outlook is a finger on the pulse of Geneva’s global policy space and asks how global governance needs to adapt to new world orders, and what it means for International Geneva. The Geneva Policy Outlook is a partnership between the Geneva Graduate Institute, the Swiss Confederation, the Republic and Canton of Geneva and the Fondation pour Genève.
