Our Colloquium series kicked off last week with Monique J. Beerli, SNSF Postdoctoral Fellow & Research Associate at the Centre de relations internationales (CERI) and her compelling topic “Becoming Humanitarian: The Making of an ICRC Delegate". During her presentation, Monique explored the historical and sociological evolution of a professional humanitarian role. Going back a few decades, Monique assessed the impact of the ICRC, its management policy and its governance identity, on the ‘tacit’ modelling of ICRC humanitarian professionals.
Our discussant, Coline Rapneau, Crowdfunding Project Manager, Communication Policy and Support Unit, ICRC and former ICRC delegate on the field enriched the discussion with her views on the institution evolvement over the years and the subsequent impact on the staff. With more than 30 participants at this event, we experienced stimulating interest and exchanges with the audience.
Our next Colloquium will take place on 15th October 2018 with Jonas Hagmann discussing on urban security management, in particular in the city of Marrakech.
Global Governance Colloquium Series
The Global Governance Colloquium series aims to build a denser research community by providing scholars of governance issues a platform to present and discuss works in progress across disciplinary boundaries. The colloquia take place biweekly on Mondays over lunchtime.
