Alumnus Named Fellow at GCSP at the Institute’s home

Jean-Marc Boulgaris has taken up a new role at the Centre for Security Policy in the Maison de la paix.

Accomplished Swiss Diplomat Jean-Marc Boulgaris recently became Associate Fellow at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), which moved into the Graduate Institute’s Maison de la paix in January this year.

Jean-Marc Boulgaris started his career in the diplomatic service in 1968 and studied at the Graduate Institute in 1969-1970.

index2.jpgJean-Marc Boulgaris is Former Deputy Secretary of State of Switzerland and was the first Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva when Switzerland joined the United Nations in 2002.

During his distinguished career he has been posted in Cairo, India and Paris. Among his many roles he has been Deputy of the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Political Director in the Department of Foreign Affairs in Bern, Deputy Permanent Observer of Switzerland to the United Nations in New York, and Ambassador to Denmark and Colombia. He also represented Switzerland in meetings of the GATT, EFTA, OECD and the IEA.

Ambassador Boulgaris chaired the Executive Committee of the UNHCR (2003-2004) and was a Member of the Board of Trustees of UNITAR (2003-2008).

The Institute congratulates Mr Boulgaris and welcomes him to the Maison de la paix.
