On 14 March 2023, the Centre for International Environmental Studies (CIES), the United Nations Forum on Sustainability Standards (UNFSS) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) co-hosted a workshop to advance understanding of voluntary sustainability standards for sustainable trade with academic experts from TESS, Forum on Trade Environment & the SDGs, KU Leuven and UNCTAD.

The workshop discussed the findings of the UNFSS 5th Flagship Report and expanded research discussions on VSS through a multidisciplinary approach, covering development, economic, political, and legal perspectives.
