In a region where productivity has been relatively low and many low productivity firms appear to survive and higher productivity ones may not grow to their full potential, Andrew Powell - Principal Advisor, Research Department, Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) - discusses policies to boost growth. Moreover, many countries are in a process of fiscal adjustment and must find ways to support growth while maintaining fiscal discipline. Risks, including higher global interest rates and trade tensions may threaten even the relatively subdued growth projections.

His presentation is based on the 2018 IDB Latin American and Caribbean Macroeconomic Report which he co-coordinated with Eduardo A. Cavallo , Principal Economist, Research Department, Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
