Introduction by
Pascal Lamy, Director General, World Trade Organization

At the event, the Institute will present Professor Amartya Sen with the Edgar de Picciotto International Prize. The Institute has created the Edgar de Picciotto International Prize to show its gratitude and to pay homage to Mr de Picciotto and his family for their exceptionally generous support, which contributed in large part to the financing of the Student House. Attributed every two years, the prize awards internationally renowned academics, who through their research have contributed to the better understanding of global challenges, and whose work has influenced policy-makers.

The World Trade Organization, neighbour and partner of the Graduate institute in many of its activities, has graciously agreed to provide its facilities for this event in order to accommodate a larger public.

Note: For the security control at the entrance of the WTO building you must present a printed copy print of your confirmation of registration and an official identity card.
