Sustainable and predicable health financing is required to strengthen health systems and allow countries to prepare for, and respond to, emergencies. It is essential if we are to achieve universal health coverage (UHC) and the goals set out in Agenda 2030. Health financing must be at the core of discussions if we are to achieve the vision set out in the General Programme of Work of the WHO in the coming five years.
This event will:
-
Discuss current country progress and challenges to improving sustainable domestic financing for health and the support from donor countries in this regard
-
Showcase both progressive and challenging donor policy and practice as well as country experiences and best and worst practices of countries making progress in improving financial capacity, budgeting and ownership over health programmes as they transition out of donor support
-
Explore and share understanding of the various roles the development community, Member States and civil society organisations have in their approaches to the needs of countries in transition.
