Join us for a discussion on Elites and Democracy: Between Commitment and Disappointment, an event that examines how political, economic, and civil servant elites in Brazil and South Africa view democracy today.

This project explores elite attitudes in two countries where democratization occurred in the Third Wave but where democratic institutions now face significant pressures. We’ll focus on elite perspectives regarding their commitment to democracy, trust in institutions, and trust in voters. For Brazil, we also look at changes over 30 years by comparing current views with a 1993 survey.

As democracy worldwide faces skepticism and challenges, understanding elite perspectives helps clarify the stability and future of democratic institutions in these countries. Join us to explore these findings and their implications.
