Restrictions on Religion - a Middle East Perspective

, -
Add to Calendar

Government restrictions on religion and belief as well as social hostilities involving religion are highest in the Middle East and North Africa of all the major regions of the world, according to an ongoing study by the non-partisan Pew Research Centre’s Forum on Religion and Public Life. Moreover, the Pew Forum’s most recent report finds that government restrictions were increasing in the Middle East and North Africa prior to the recent unrest that continues in the region. While restrictions on religion may not have directly caused the unrest, it’s unarguable that changes in religious restrictions are a PART of the larger social and political forces shaping the region today. Join us for a discussion of these important trends.
