About the Campaign

Prove It Matters The ambition of this new advocacy campaign is to elevate children’s voices and to urge Member States, particularly countries on the CAAC agenda, to better comply with their legal obligations and duty to protect children by recommitting to their initial ratification of the CRC and by taking and implementing concrete actions to show their commitment. The campaign will include two calls to action, targeting two different audiences:

  1. To Member States, especially those on the Children and Armed Conflict agenda, to publicly pledge their recommitment to the CRC and take immediate, concrete measures to safeguard children’s rights to life, health, education, and to a safe future. A web-based microsite dedicated to the campaign will highlight the pledges and measures taken by the relevant countries during the entire duration of the campaign.

  2. To children worldwide and particularly those affected by conflict, to participate in a child participatory initiative symbolized by the dissemination of messages of peace in and through origami doves that they will create and share with OSRSG CAAC. An art piece will be created with all the origami doves collected and will be displayed at the United Nations in New York in the second year of the campaign. This activity aims at engaging children creatively in a global movement but also at initiating discussions with children, about peace and about their rights
