CCDP Research Seminar Series V features: Maurício Vieira
Since the establishment of the UN Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) in 2005, only six countries were considered eligible for engaging in this post-conflict platform and designing their respective peacebuilding priorities. However, during its first decade (2005-2015), the internal functioning of the PBA revealed a dichotomous dynamic related to which countries were eligible for the PBC in contrast to other countries that remained financially restricted by its counterpart, the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF). Based in this scenario, this seminar aims to discuss the role of post-conflict labels in determining intrinsic aspect of the decision-making inside the UN, taking the PBA as a case study.
Maurício Vieira is a Junior Visiting Fellow at the CCDP-Graduate Institute and PhD Candidate in International Politics and Conflict Resolution at the University of Coimbra (Portugal).
