Ever wondered what life in the ANSO department is really like?
Or what it's like living in Geneva and studying at the Institute?
Join us every two weeks for a chill hangout hosted by two ANSO students who invite a new guest each session - students, profs, alumni, who knows!
It’s an open space to ask questions, hear stories, and get a feel for the community beyond the classroom.
This time, we’re incredibly excited to welcome Dr. Julie Billaud, Associate Professor in the ANSO department, who just received a 4-year SNF grant for her new research project on Digital Humanitarianism, and is currently hiring a PhD researcher to join the team!
Her work explores how digital humanitarianism is taking shape as a field of knowledge and practice, through collaborations between humanitarian organisations, tech companies, and scientific institutions.
We’ll also take time to talk about her classroom — how she teaches complex, timely topics in anthropology and critical theory, the kinds of conversations that happen in her seminars, and what it means to teach with care, curiosity, and political awareness.
No pressure to be formal. Just bring your curiosity.
Camera and mic optional - your vibe, your call.
